Niihaw Sushi new branding

Is that a smile or two people sitting opposite each other enjoying their Sushi? I am talking about the icon part of the Niihaw branding logo here. Adding a positive to a logo design is a simple and great way to add engagement. A smile goes a long way afterall.

Why a smile?

In this instance the customer just required a new icon in the Niihaw branding exercise. The name and the logo copy were already decided.

So what do you do about the icon? Well, I decided to make something of the two “ii’s”. This was an element too distinctive to not use. A smile is a simple graphic used by many companies in their branding, think Amazon, think Tui.

What does a smile convey? Happy customers (good service and products), friendly, welcoming. Using simple, clean graphic symbolism in branding always works. Get it right and when the further branding work is done it will look and communicate so much better and be easier to do. You just need to keep it simple.
